I Am Not A Tourist is committed to editorial quality. It believes that its own interests are best served by giving top priority to the interests of its readers. With that in mind, I Am Not A Tourist editorial team will ensure I Am Not A Tourist remains a trustworthy source of reliable information by defending itself against influence by commercial considerations.
I Am Not A Tourist’s editors hand pick news stories and feature articles to ensure they are particularly relevant to readers. Articles are written by a team of writers and high-quality freelance contributors who have extensive knowledge of expatriate life, the issues that affect expats and of news and events in the countries in which I Am Not A Tourist operates.
I Am Not A Tourist’s editorial team works to the following guidelines:
• News stories and feature articles are selected by one criterion: their relevance and interest to readers.
• Our reporting and our selection of news and feature stories will not be influenced by the demands of advertisers.
• We are happy to receive input from advertisers and other commercial parties with a view to improving our editorial content. However, final control of site content rests with the editorial team.
• Advertisement contracts will not be based on any promise of editorial favour. If advertisers wish articles to appear on the site, they can do so by purchasing an “advertorial”, which is clearly marked to readers as being an advertisement.
• We will strive for the highest quality of reporting, writing and design.
• We will correct any factual mistakes that are pointed out to us.
Advertorials
From time to time, the sales team sells advertorials on I Am Not A Tourist sites. Advertorials are purely advertising material, and as such the editorial team has no control over their content.
Advertorials must:
• Display the word “advertisement:” in red text at the top of the story
• Be limited to just one per channel home page and be positioned after the second set of features. The word “advertisement” must be displayed in the header.
